Alibaba Financial Report: Alibaba's net profit in Q3 of fiscal year 2023 was 46.815 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 138%

Alibaba recently released its third quarter report for fiscal year 2023 (Note: Alibaba's fiscal year is not synchronized with the calendar year, it starts on April 1 of each year and ends on March 31 of the following year).

• Revenue in the third quarter was 247.76 billion yuan , the market expected 245.183 billion yuan, and 242.58 billion yuan in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 2%.

• Net profit in the third quarter was 46.815 billion yuan , compared with 27.692 billion yuan in the same period last year, an increase of 138% year-on-year.

• Excluding non-GAAP items, net profit was RMB 49.932 billion , a year-on-year increase of 12%.

• Adjusted earnings per ADS were $19.26 in the third quarter.

• Cainiao's revenue in the third fiscal quarter was 23.023 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17%.

The financial report shows that as of the quarter ending December 31, 2022, 45.4 million American depositary shares (equivalent to 363.3 million common shares) were repurchased for approximately US$3.3 billion under the company's share repurchase plan. Alibaba Group Chief Financial Officer Xu Hong said that the company will continue to deliver on its commitment to improve shareholder returns.

After the financial report was released, Alibaba's US stocks rose more than 4% in pre-market trading .
