[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the Onagraceae plant.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 40-70cm tall. The stem is erect, smooth, and the internodes are slightly swollen. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 2-3.5cm long; leaf blade is ovate-lanceolate or ovate, 6-8cm long, 2.5-4cm wide, with short pointed or acuminate tip, nearly rounded base, sparsely serrated margin, and nearly glabrous except for the margin. The racemes are terminal or axillary, and the axis of the inflorescence is covered with short glandular hairs; the flowers are bisexual; the calyx tube is ovate-round, with 2 lobes, reddish purple, about 2 mm long; the petals are 2, white, obovate, with 2 lobes at the apex, which are shorter than the calyx lobes; the stamens are 2, extending outward; the ovary is inferior, 2-chambered, the style is thin and weak, extending outward, and the stigma is capitate. The fruit is nut-shaped, obovate-globose, 3.5 mm long, about 3 mm in diameter, with 4 longitudinal grooves, and covered with hooked hairs; the fruit stalk is 1.5-1 times the length of the fruit, sparsely covered with short hairs, and usually drooping. Flowering period is June-July.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in bushes or under forests on hillsides at an altitude of 800-1200m.

[Cultivation] Biology particularly prefers a cool and humid environment. It is best to cultivate it in fertile loam rich in humus.
