【English name】 Bruguiera gymnorrhiza (L.) Lam.

[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, a plant of the Rhizophoraceae family.

[Original form] Shrubs or trees, often with knee-shaped aerial roots protruding above the water surface. Simple leaves are opposite; petioles are 2.5-4.5cm long; stipules fall off early; leaves are leathery, elliptic or narrowly elliptic, 7-14cm long, 3-5.5cm wide, pedicels are curved downward, 8-20cm long; calyx tube is nearly bell-shaped, dark yellow-red, with 11-13 calyx lobes, 12 in most cases, lobes are linear, about the same length as the calyx tube; corolla is light reddish white, the same number as the calyx lobes but shorter, 2-parted, densely covered with silky hairs at the base, nearly glabrous at the top, with 1 prickly hair between the cracks, and 2-4 prickly hairs at the tip of the lobes; the number of stamens is 1 times that of petals, slightly shorter than the petals; ovary is inferior, 2-4-chambered. The fruit is enclosed in the calyx tube and fused with it, with 1 chamber, the calyx tube is longer than the lobes; there is 1 seed, which germinates before the fruit leaves the mother tree, and the hypocotyl is spindle-shaped, slightly angular, and 15-25cm long. The flowering and fruiting season is almost complete.
