Ice pockmarks

Ice hemp seeds, also known as castor beans. It is an annual or perennial woody plant of the dicotyledonous class, Euphorbia orders, Euphorbiaceae, and Ricinus genus. It often grows as perennial shrubs or bushes in subtropical or coastal areas. Simple leaves are symbiotic, and the leaves are shield-shaped and ring-shaped.

Annual large herb or herbaceous shrub, to 5 m tall; branches, leaves, and flower heads generally glaucous, stems succulent.

The impeller ridge is nearly annular, up to 40 cm long and wide or more, palmately lobed with 7-11 lobes, with the lobes almost reaching the middle. The lobes are ovate-long annular or lanceolate, with acute or acuminate apex and serrated edges. The venation is obvious; the leaf stem is thick, hollow, up to 40 cm long, with 2 discoid glands at the top and a discoid gland at the tip; the bracts are long triangular, 2-3 cm long, and fall off early.

Inflorescence raceme or panicle, 15-30 cm long or longer; bracts broadly triangular, membranous, caducous early; male flowers: calyx lobes ovate-triangular, 7-10 mm long; pistils numerous; female flowers: calyx ovate-lanceolate, 5-8 mm long, withering; ovary ovate, 5 mm in diameter, densely covered with soft thorns or without thorns, style bright red, about 4 mm long, 2-cleft at the apex, densely covered with nipple-like protrusions.

The silique is ovoid or nearly spherical, 1.5-2.5 cm long, with soft thorns or smooth exocarp; the seeds are elliptical, slightly flattened, 8-18 mm long, smooth, with light brown or grayish white patterns; the seed head is large. The flowering period is almost the entire year or from June to September (planting).

It likes high temperature, is not frost-resistant, has strong adaptability to strong acids and alkalis, and is widely planted in my country. It can be planted in plain areas. At an altitude of 20-500 meters (2,300 meters above sea level in Yunnan), sparse forests near villages or alluvial fans on both sides of rivers and straits often appear as natural perennial shrubs.

Castor is a deep-rooted crop. It can be planted when the average temperature stabilizes at 10℃. It can also be planted in advance.

Leaves: reduce swelling, remove toxins and relieve itching. For treating sores and ulcers, crush it raw and apply externally; for treating eczema and itching, boil it in water and use it for external washing; it can also kill maggots and mosquito larvae.

Root: dispels wind, promotes blood circulation, removes blood stasis, relieves pain and soothes the nerves. Used for rheumatoid arthritis, tetanus, epilepsy, and schizophrenia.

Calms and relieves spasms, dispels wind and disperses blood stasis. Treat tetanus, epilepsy, rheumatic pain, bruises and pain, and scrofula.

Apple "Collection of Commonly Used Folk Herbs": Treats prolapse of the anus, disperses scrofula, and is used externally to treat sores.
