What is the Chinese medicine Sanqi

Because people nowadays are under great pressure in life, even though the living standards are constantly improving, people rarely take care of their physical health. This is wrong, and it will only lead to some diseases befalling themselves. The Chinese medicine Sanqi is a relatively effective medicine that can treat many diseases. Next, let us learn about the Chinese medicine Sanqi, and what are the issues that need to be paid attention to during taking it?

Sanqi is the rhizome of Polygonum amplexicaule var. sinense, a plant of the Polygonaceae family. It gets this name because it can promote blood circulation, unblock menstruation and treat injuries. The whole herb of Geranium sibiricum, a plant of the Geranaceae family, is also called "blood notoginseng".

Perennial erect herb, up to 1m tall. The perennial roots are fleshy and hypertrophic, with wart-like protrusions and fibrous roots. The stem has longitudinal grooves, is green or purple, and has many branches at the top. The basal leaves are clustered, with irregular serrations on the edges, or pinnately divided, and pubescent on both sides; the stem leaves are alternate, large, pinnately divided, and glabrous on both sides. The involucre is tubular, with two layers of bracts, linear-lanceolate, and membranous marginal layers; the flowers are bisexual, tubular, golden yellow, with 5-toothed apex of the corolla, spherical base of the style, and slender linear hairy tips at the top of the branches; the achenes are narrowly cylindrical, with white pappus. Flowering period is from September to October.

Functional efficacy

Sanqi has the effects of clearing away heat and detoxifying, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain. It is used for stomachache, bruises, fractures, back pain due to strain, rheumatic pain, etc. Its main functions are to stop bleeding, reduce swelling and relieve pain. It is more effective for bleeding, redness, swelling and pain caused by external injuries. Its blood-activating effect can be used to treat rheumatism and joint pain and bruises.

How to use

1. Treatment of stomach problems: Mainly use Panax notoginseng to make tea, drink it on an empty stomach every morning and before going to bed at night. Do not eat chili peppers during use. For patients with severe stomach problems, this method may have little effect.

2. For patients with bruises, fractures, back pain due to overwork, and rheumatic pain, soak it in wine at a ratio of 1:10 for more than eight days. Drink 50g to 30g before meals and before going to bed. At the same time, wipe the affected area with the soaked wine until it feels hot. The total usage of the soaked wine is 70% for drinking and 3% for rubbing.

3. It can stop bleeding. The specific method of use is: use a knife to take out the crushed foam and apply it directly to the bleeding area. Alternatively, you can take out the Panax notoginseng that has been used to make wine, dry it in the sun, press it into powder and store it, and then take it out and apply it directly when you need it.

Identification method

(1) Distinguish by appearance. The genuine Panax notoginseng is cone-shaped, with tumor-like protrusions and wrinkles on the surface, and is gray-brown in color; while the counterfeit is fist-shaped or irregular spindle-shaped, and although it also has tumor-like protrusions, most of them are artificial forgeries, with fine roots and pseudostem marks, or curved longitudinal wrinkles. Compared with the genuine product, it is easy to see the traces of counterfeiting.

(2) Taste and identify. The real Panax notoginseng has a slight smell, and tastes bitter at first and then slightly sweet; the fake Panax notoginseng tastes sweet and light and then slightly bitter, and feels sticky when chewed. Real and fake Panax notoginseng do not belong to the same family. The real one is the dried rhizome of Panax notoginseng of the Araliaceae family, while the fake Chrysanthemum Panax notoginseng and Rhizoma Panax notoginseng belong to the Asteraceae family and Basella family respectively.

Through the above comprehensive introduction to the Chinese medicine Sanqi, we can not only increase our knowledge, but also have a better understanding of this medicine when we need it in the future. Of course, it is not enough to just know the effects and contraindications of this Chinese medicine. When we are not very busy at work, it is necessary to learn about other Chinese medicines.
