Are you also dominated by "battery health phobia"? Please click on the "correct way" to charge

In today's information age, computers and mobile phones have become an indispensable part of human survival. They not only expand our channels for obtaining information and social communication, but also bring more efficient ways of working, entertainment and lifestyle.

But now many people suffer from "battery health phobia", and various methods of battery maintenance are emerging on the Internet. Some people say that mobile phones cannot be played while charging, and some people say that computers are best used while charging... Which one is the "correct way" to charge mobile phones and computers?

0 1How does a battery work?

In the past, many laptops used nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal hydride batteries with a memory effect. When the battery is not fully charged or used up for many times, the battery capacity will "remember" the power during charging and power failure, and regard them as the maximum and minimum power values respectively, resulting in a reduction in battery capacity. Therefore, this type of battery needs to be completely used up before being fully charged.

Most of the mobile phones and computers on the market now use lithium-ion batteries , which have better performance than nickel-cadmium batteries.

Working principle: The charging and discharging process of lithium-ion batteries is the process of lithium ions constantly moving back and forth between the positive and negative electrodes, so it is also figuratively called a "rocking chair battery."

Advantages: High energy density, more power can be stored; weak memory effect, no need for "deep discharge", can be unplugged without being fully charged.

Disadvantages: Its life is related to the charging cycle. Every time 100% of the power is used, a cycle is completed. The more cycles, the more obvious the battery life decreases.

0 2Can I use it while charging?

The life of lithium-ion batteries is related to the key "charging cycle". A charging cycle includes the process of the battery starting from a fully charged state, gradually discharging until the power is exhausted, and then being charged to full again. Lithium ions undergo oxidation and reduction reactions in this cycle, resulting in gradual battery wear.

If an electronic device is used without charging or is charged but not fully charged, it will be counted as a "charging cycle"; if it is fully charged to 100% and continues to charge, the power supply will continue to power the computer, and the fully charged internal battery will not work, and it will not be counted as a charging cycle. Therefore, for mobile phones and computers, it is best to connect them to a power source when used.

Why do some people say that you can’t play with your phone while it’s charging?

In fact, it is not because it is bad to use while charging. What really affects the battery life of the mobile phone is the sudden temperature rise caused by playing while charging. Electronic components themselves have a temperature range of use. As the temperature rises, the voltage resistance of the components in the mobile phone chip decreases, which may cause the electronic components to dissolve and the battery to short-circuit. Laptops have enough space to store more protection circuits, and they also have built-in small fans, which can solve most of the heating problems caused by charging.

0 3How to use the battery correctly?

Avoid overcharging and overdischarging. Overcharging and discharging can cause great damage to the battery, because when lithium-ion batteries are deeply charged and discharged, the structure of the positive and negative electrode materials may be damaged, the space that can accommodate lithium ions becomes less, and its capacity is reduced accordingly.

Therefore, the best way to maintain the battery is to charge and discharge it shallowly, try to keep the power between 20% and 80%, do not charge it until the power is exhausted, and do not overcharge it for a long time. Try not to play with your mobile phone while charging it, and using your computer while charging it will not have much impact on the battery.

Pay attention to the temperature during charging. Avoid charging your phone in an environment below 0°C and above 35°C. Extreme environments will affect the battery life and may also cause safety hazards.

Replace the battery in time. When using mobile phones, computers and other digital products, if you find abnormal conditions such as deformation of the battery back cover or bulging of the battery, you should stop using it and replace the battery in time to avoid safety hazards.
