[Source] It is a colloidal liquid made by processing the immature fruits of persimmon and other plants of the same genus in the Ebenaceae family.

[Preparation method] Pick unripe green and astringent fruits, mash them, put them in a jar, add appropriate amount of clean water, stir from time to time, and then let it stand for about 20 days. Remove the residue and leave a colorless gelatinous liquid, which is persimmon lacquer.

[Pharmacological action] Cholenaic acid and acetylcholine can be obtained from the extract of persimmon lacquer, as well as some amino acid-like substances with unknown properties and similar structures to choline. It can lower rabbit blood pressure, inhibit isolated frog hearts, and excite guinea pig intestines. These effects can be blocked by atropine: on leech dorsal muscle specimens, its effect intensity is equivalent to 3/4 of acetylcholine. Another component can lower cat blood pressure and is not blocked by atropine. Persimmon paint has a hemolytic effect in vitro, and when injected into rabbits, it causes morphological changes in red blood cells and a decrease in lymphocytes.
