[Original form] Viburnum yichangensis is a deciduous shrub, up to 3m tall. Young branches densely stellate and pubescent, winter buds small and hairy, with 2 pairs of outer scales. Leaves opposite; petiole 3-5mm long, with subulate stipules; leaves papery, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 3.5-7cm long, 1.5-3.5cm wide, apex acuminate, base cordate, margin dentate, leaf surface rough, sparsely covered with warty forked hairs on the upper side, densely covered with stellate felt hairs on the lower side, with a few glands on both sides near the base, 6-9 pairs of lateral veins extending to the tip of the teeth, sunken on the upper side of the leaf with the main vein, and protruding on the lower side. The umbel inflorescence grows at the top of the lateral short branches with one pair of leaves, 2-4cm in diameter, and hairy; there is a peduncle, and there are 5 first-level radiating branches; the bracts and bracteoles are linear, 4-5mm long; the flowers grow on the second to third-level radiating branches; the calyx tube is about 1.5mm long, and the 5 calyx teeth are tiny, ovate-triangular; the corolla is white, radial, about 6mm in diameter, and the lobes are round-ovate, slightly longer than the corolla tube; there are 5 stamens, which are slightly shorter to equal in length to the corolla. The drupe is oval, about 7mm long, and red; the core is flat, with 3 shallow ventral grooves and 2 shallow dorsal grooves. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is June-September.
