[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of Elaeagnus oldhamii Maxim., a plant of the Elaeagnus family.

[Original form] Fujian Elaeagnus is an evergreen upright shrub, 1-2m tall. It has thick and long thorns, which are 10-40mm long or longer. Flowers and leaves sometimes grow at the base of the thorns, and the young branches are densely covered with brown scales. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 4-7mm long; leaves are nearly leathery, obovate or obovate-lanceolate, 3-4.5cm long, 1.5-2.5cm wide, rounded at the apex, gradually narrowing towards the base, entire, densely covered with silvery-white scales on the upper side when young, which gradually fall off later, and densely covered with silvery-white and a few scattered dark brown scales on the lower side. The flowers are pale white, covered with scales, and clustered in short racemes in the leaf axils. The pedicels are 3-4mm long. The perianth tube is short, cup-shaped, about 2mm long, and 4-lobed at the top. The lobes are equal to or longer than the perianth tube, up to 3mm long, and glabrous or sparsely covered with white stellate pubescence on the inside. There are 4 stamens, with extremely short filaments and anthers oblong, about 1.5mm long. The style is erect and glabrous. The fruit is oval, 5-8mm long, densely covered with silvery white scales when young, and red when ripe. The flowering period is from November to December, and the fruiting period is from February to March of the following year.
