[Properties and flavors] "Guangdong Chinese Medicine" II: "bitter, cold, slightly toxic."

【Functions and indications】Analgesic, insecticidal. Treat hernia, ascariasis, swelling and pain from falls, furuncle, and skin eczema.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 2 to 3 qian. For external use: decoct in water for washing, mash into juice for application or grind into powder for application.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat hernia and kill roundworms: decoct the leaves and fruits of neem tree and drink the juice. (Zhejiang Folk Herbs)

[Clinical application] Treatment of suppurative skin diseases: Take neem leaves, wash and chop them, add 3000 ml of water for every 1 catty, boil for 40 to 60 minutes, cool and filter, and put into a sterilized glass bottle for later use. Add 5 ml of 10% carbolic acid solution to every 1000 ml of solution for preservation. Usage: First use neem leaf solution to wash the pus scab on the wound surface, then soak the sterilized gauze with the solution for wet compress on the wound, add drops of the solution to the gauze every 3 to 5 hours to keep it moist. If the wound is extensive or the affected area is difficult to wet, the wound can be washed with this solution three times a day. Generally, the wound surface will become dry, the redness will fade, and the itching will be significantly relieved on the first day after medication; scabs will form and debris will fall off after 2 to 4 days of treatment. A total of 34 cases of impetigo, eczematoid dermatitis, chronic eczema and other diseases were treated, and 25 of them were cured.
