[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Pteris sinensis of the Pteridaceae family.

【Original morphology】Plant height 35-60cm. The rhizome is short and obliquely ascending, with the top densely covered with large brown-brown, lanceolate and ovate-lanceolate entire scales. Leaves are clustered; petiole 20-25cm long, dark straw color, with sparse small scales along the rachis and barbel, swollen at the base and tapered downwards; leaf blade herbaceous, smooth and hairless, oblong-lanceolate, 25-35cm long, 12-15cm wide, slightly narrow at the bottom, with a few glandular hairs along the underside of the barbel, and pinnate-lobed three times; lobes about 20 pairs or more, alternate, obliquely upward, nearly sessile, narrowly lanceolate, 2-3 pairs slightly shortened at the base, the middle pinnae 7-10cm long, about 3mm wide, blunt-headed, shallowly lobed at the edges into serrated lobes, the small fissures obliquely upward, with micro-teeth at the tip, connected by narrow wings at the base; veins 2-3 forked on the lobes, extending to the tooth tips. The sori are long or short linear, rarely hooked, attached to the lower part of the veinlets on the upper side of the lobes, with one on each lobe; the sori cover is the same shape as the sori, brown, membranous, with eroded edges.
