[Source] Medicinal material source: the root or whole herb of the Asteraceae plant.

[Original morphology] Round-tongued sticky crown grass is a perennial herb, usually sturdy and up to 1m tall. The rhizome is short and horizontal. The stem is erect, glabrous, and has obliquely ascending branches. The basal leaves and leaves at the lower part of the stem are larger, occasionally shallowly or deeply lobed, with 1-2 pairs of lobes on both sides, rarely 3 pairs, and petioles up to 10 cm long; the leaves in the middle stem are oblong or ovate-oblong, 4-10 cm long, 2.5-4.5 cm wide, with large serrations or round serrations on the edges, and the lower part extends downward along the petiole to form a winged petiole, with the base of the petiole enlarged and attached to the stem; the leaves in the upper stem gradually become smaller and sessile, with the base enlarged and attached to the stem or ear-shaped and clasping the stem; all leaves are glabrous on the upper side, with very sparse short soft hairs along the veins on the lower side. The capitula is spherical or hemispherical, 1-1.5cm in diameter, solitary at the top of the stem or branch end, most of the capitula are arranged in umbels or umbel panicles; the involucral bracts are 2-3 layers, almost equal in length, and slightly pubescent on the outside; the outer ligulate female flowers are multi-layered; the ligules are round, of equal length and width, with rounded or slightly concave apex; there are a few bisexual tubular flowers in the center, the eaves are broadly bell-shaped, and the apex is 4-toothed. Achenes compressed, beakless, with thickened marginal veins and viscous secretions at apex; pappus absent. Flowering period is from April to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on the edge of forests, under forests, in thickets, or near water in valleys at an altitude of 1250-3400m.

【Functions and indications】 Clearing away heat and detoxifying; removing rashes; relieving pain. Mainly used for dysentery, enteritis, otitis media, measles, toothache, joint swelling and pain

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g.
