[Source] The whole herb of the Gramineae plant. Harvest in summer and autumn, remove the soil and dry in the sun.

[Original form] Annual herb, 10 to 60 cm tall. The leaf sheath is glabrous or has sparse soft hairs at the sheath mouth; the ligule is degenerate into a circle of cilia; the leaf blade is narrowly linear, 3-30 cm long, 2-4 mm wide, and rough on the surface. The panicle is about 1/3 of the plant's length, with long hairs in the branch axils; the spikelets are dark green or purple-black when mature, 2-7 mm long; the glume apex is obtuse or the second glume is slightly pointed, the first glume is 0.5-0.8 mm long, often without veins, the second glume is 1-1.2 mm long, with 1 vein; the lateral veins of the lemma are not obvious, and the first lemma is 1.5-2 mm long. The palea are arched, slightly short, and the two ridges are rough to ciliated. Caryopsis oblong, 0.6-1 mm long. The flowering and fruiting period is from August to November.

[Habitat distribution] Mostly grow in barren fields. Distributed throughout Northeast, North China, East China and South China.

【Functions and indications】 ① "Illustrated Records of Plant Names and Realities": "It is used to treat injuries caused by falls."

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 3 to 5 qian. For external use: grind the calcined medicine into powder and apply on the affected area.

[Additional prescription] For the treatment of impetigo: fry the inflorescence of pistachio until it turns black, grind it into powder, mix with sesame oil and rub it on the affected area once a day for three to five days. (Selected Works of the Exhibition: Dermatology)
