[Original morphology] Celastrus glabra is a vine-like shrub with smooth twigs, spots and lenticels. Leaves are alternate; petiole is about 1 cm long; leaves are smooth, elliptical or oblong-elliptical, rarely obovate, 3.5-8 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, with sharp or obtuse tip, pointed base, and unclear coarse serrations. There are 4-5 veins on each side of the leaf. The inflorescences are arranged in panicles, axillary or terminal. The male flowers are white, with 5 sepals and petals each, a cup-shaped disk, and anthers with pink dots; the stigma of the reduced pistil is 3-lobed. Capsule ovate, smooth, solitary, in clusters or rarely in 2, nearly pedunculate, about 8mm long, pale yellow when dry. Seeds with yellow-red aril.
