The role of proanthocyanidins

The role of proanthocyanidins

In daily life, we always see some girls who love beauty and always spend a lot of time and effort on makeup and skin care. But even so, it cannot stop their love of beauty. We may not have heard of proanthocyanidins, but in fact, it is a rather special substance. It can not only meet the psychological needs of beauties, but also achieve the effect of skin care and beauty. It can also play a health-care function for the body. It is a rare substance.

The benefits of proanthocyanidins are not limited to this, they also have an effect on blood circulation in the body. For people with myopia, proanthocyanidins can improve our vision and make up for their own vision problems. For more detailed information on the effects of proanthocyanidins, please refer to this article.

Blood circulation

In Europe, proanthocyanidins have been used in clinical treatment for decades to improve blood circulation, treat diabetic retinopathy, reduce edema and inhibit varicose veins. Proanthocyanidins can strengthen capillaries, arteries and veins, so it has the effect of reducing swelling and removing blood stasis. Capillary resistance is reduced and permeability is improved, making it easier for cells to absorb nutrients and eliminate waste. The function of the circulatory system is to transport nutrients and remove waste. The heart is responsible for pumping blood; the arteries and veins transport blood; and the capillaries are responsible for delivering nutrients to cells and removing waste. Proanthocyanidins can scavenge water-soluble and fat-soluble free radicals in cell membranes, thereby inhibiting the release of certain enzymes to damage capillary walls.

The nourishing effects of proanthocyanidins can be observed in a very short period of time. Professor Henri Choussat of the University of Bordeaux in France conducted an experiment with 47 subjects ranging in age from 37 to 85 years old, and each person took 100 mg of anthocyanins. After 27 hours, it was found that capillary resistance had decreased by 40%.

Vision protection

Diabetic retinopathy is a sign of diabetes. It is caused by microbleeding in the capillaries of the eye and is a common cause of blindness in adults. France has allowed the use of proanthocyanidins to treat this disease for many years. This method significantly reduced capillary bleeding in the eye and improved vision. Proanthocyanidins have also been used to prevent complications following cataract surgery in diabetic patients.

In 1998, experts selected many people without eye diseases or injuries to conduct experiments to examine whether proanthocyanidins could alleviate night blindness. The participants were divided into two groups, one group was drivers who drove at night, and the other group was people who were accompanied by computer screens all day. Four weeks later, their blindness tolerance was checked again and 98% of the subjects had improved.

Proanthocyanidins can help us achieve more health benefits in our daily lives. We must remember some of the benefits of this substance, but a healthy life still requires our own creation. We cannot achieve health care effects through the help of external substances, as it is easy to become dependent on these substances.
