The efficacy and function of Wumingyi

The efficacy and function of Wumingyi

Maybe everyone knows some common Chinese medicines, but they don't know what medicinal value some less common Chinese medicines have. For example, Wumingyi has the effects of stopping bleeding and relieving pain, reducing swelling and inflammation. At the same time, after washing, it can also be used to decoct medicine and decoct water. However, it is also necessary to understand all its effects and functions so that it can be used for the right purpose.

It was first recorded in "Leigong Paozhi Lun". It is an ore of the oxide mineral pyrolusite. Li Shizhen said: "It has no name, it is a word for obscuration." Hence the name.

Chemical composition

It contains manganese dioxide, of which manganese is 63.2% and oxygen is 36.8%; it also contains impurities such as iron, cobalt and nickel.

Pharmacological Action

It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and hemostatic effects.

Processing

1. Clean, remove impurities, and wash.

2. Cut, remove impurities, wash and mash.

3. Roasting and quenching in vinegar: Pick out impurities, place in an iron pot or sand pot with a tight cover, calcine until red, pour into vinegar to quench while hot, take out, dry, and grind into powder. 100 kg of Ophiopogon japonicus and 15 kg of vinegar.

Nature and flavor

【Nature and flavor】Sweet, neutral.

[return through meridians] enters kidney and liver meridians.

Indications

1. Remove blood stasis and relieve pain. It has a sweet taste and is mild and cool in nature. It is sweet and nourishing, and salty enters the blood. It has the functions of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis and relieving pain. As recorded in "Bencao Mengquan": "It can remove blood stasis and relieve pain." Therefore, it is suitable for treating bruises, fractures, swelling and pain, etc.

2. Reduce swelling and promote muscle growth. "Ben Cao Jing Shu" says: "Wumenyi, salty can enter the blood, sweet can replenish blood, cold can remove heat, so it is used to treat wounds, fractures, internal damage, pain relief and muscle growth. Su Song used vinegar to rub swelling, poison, carbuncle, also for its blood circulation and cooling effect."

3. Lactation: Women’s menstrual blood and milk are both produced by the spleen and stomach. The breast belongs to Yangming and the nipple belongs to Jueyin, so menstruation and milk originate from the spleen and stomach. The normal overflow and excretion depend on the smooth flow of liver qi and the moderate release of liver qi. If Qi and blood are weak, milk production will be insufficient. If Liver Qi is stagnant, the milk vessels will be blocked, resulting in no milk being produced or very little milk being produced. The taste of Wumingyi is sweet and neutral in nature. It enters the liver and kidney meridians. Sweetness can nourish. Therefore, it has the effect of promoting lactation. For example, "Yi Lin Zong Yao" says: "It can promote lactation."

4. Identification and application: Calamine and Anemarrhena have the same nature and flavor, and both have the effect of reducing swelling of cattle muscles, absorbing moisture and healing sores. However, calamine is good at absorbing moisture, relieving itching, removing cataracts and improving eyesight; while ambergris is best known for removing blood stasis and relieving pain, and it also has the effect of promoting lactation.

Dosage

For oral administration: in pills or powder, 1.5 to 4.5 g. For external use: grind into powder and apply on skin.

Su Song used vinegar to rub swelling, carbuncle and ulcer, also for its blood circulation and cooling effect."

2. Kaibao Materia Medica: "It can treat wounds, fractures, internal injuries, relieve pain, and promote muscle growth."
