Perennial herb, 15 to 25 cm high. Perennial herb, 15 to 25 cm tall. The bulb is spherical or conical. The stem is erect, glabrous, green or dark purple. Except for the lowest leaves which are opposite, all other leaves are alternate or nearly opposite, sessile; the leaf blades are linear or linear-lanceolate, 3.6-6.5 cm long, 3-7 mm wide, and acute at the apex. The flower is solitary at the top of the stem; dark purple with slightly yellowish-brown small squares, with 1 leaf-like bract, 6 tepals, 2.5-2.7 cm long, 3 outer ones nearly oblong, 6-9 mm wide, 3 inner ones obovate-oblong, 10-13 mm wide, nectary pits not very obvious; 6 stamens, anthers nearly base-fixed, filaments sometimes densely covered with papillae; stigma 3-lobed, lobes spreading outward, 0.5-1 (～1.5) mm long.
