Leaves are opposite; petiolate; leaf blade is broadly ovate, 4-10cm long, with pointed to acuminate apex, cordate base, wavy to shallowly lobed margins, and 3-5 basal glands. The racemes grow in leaf axils and hang down; the top of the pedicels and bracts are pubescent and have scattered bird's nest-like glands; there are 2 bracts, initially fused, then one side splits like a spathe; the calyx is degenerate and only one side remains; the corolla is lavender or nearly white, with a yellow center, 5-8cm long, and the expanded diameter of the lobes is up to 7cm; there are 4 stamens, didynamous. The capsule is about 3 cm long, nearly spherical at the bottom and has a long beak at the top, which looks like a crow's beak when it cracks.
