[Source] Medicinal material source: the root or whole herb of Zhejiang Lingzixiang, a plant of the Lamiaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, about 60cm tall. With rhizomes; stems erect, quadrangular, more or less with stiff hairs. Leaves are opposite; petiole is 0.4-3cm long; leaf blade is lanceolate, 3-15cm long, 1.5-4.5cm wide, apex is gradually pointed, base is cuneate and gradually narrows into a petiole, there are fine flat hairs with nodes on the upper surface veins, the rest of the part is sparsely covered with stiff hairs, there are fine flat hairs with nodes on the lower surface veins, arcuate reticulation is obvious, reticulate veinlets are sparse, and the margins are sharp and shallowly serrated. Cymes are dichotomous, axillary, with 3-5 flowers; bracteoles are 2, lanceolate, longer than pedicels; calyx is campanulate, 8-10mm long, and becomes saccate after anthesis, up to 2cm long, with 4-5 unequally large and obtuse triangular teeth, sparsely covered with procumbent hairs on the outside, later becoming glabrous; corolla is dichotomous, bright purple, 3-4cm long, upper lip entire, lower lip 3-lobed, middle cleft is larger; stamens are 4, the front pair is longer, filaments are pubescent, anthers are 2-chambered and obviously forked, with whiskers in front; ovary is 4-lobed, stigma is 2-lobed. The nutlets are oblong with wings about 1 cm long. Flowering period: August, fruiting period: September-October
