Jindong District immediately activated the emergency response mechanism and carried out various emergency response measures such as isolation control and epidemiological investigation.

Hohhot, Inner Mongolia: 3 confirmed cases of postal and express delivery workers

On March 3, the press conference on the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia pointed out that there were 3 confirmed cases among employees in the postal and express delivery industry in Hohhot. These 3 confirmed cases were close contacts or secondary close contacts of positive cases, and were all confirmed during the quarantine period. These 3 confirmed employees were not infected during the operation process. In order to eliminate and prevent related risks, Hohhot has carried out comprehensive disinfection and sterilization of the workplaces and facilities used by the 3 confirmed personnel; and checked the information of mail and express senders and recipients.

Yu Chuanhua, professor of epidemiology and health statistics at Wuhan University, said: "Although COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through the respiratory tract, it is also possible to be infected through contact with the surface of contaminated objects. For Omicron virus, if the surface of the object is smooth, such as glass, stainless steel or plastic, the virus may be detected days or weeks after contamination. Omicron virus survives longer in low temperature, humid and closed environments. Express delivery may carry the virus during the circulation process. Due to the special nature of their work, couriers have to contact people or objects from different groups every day. Once one person is infected, it will bring a greater risk of transmission to the population."

Yu Chuanhua pointed out that express delivery workers must strengthen their efforts to prevent infection, especially some international mail express workers. Whether it is their own belongings or distributed items, they must do key disinfection and personal protection work in advance; they must keep the working environment dry and ventilated at ordinary times to reduce the risk of transmission.

In addition, the Beijing Center for Disease Control issued the latest reminder on April 15, which mentioned that people who have passed through or traveled to Qingxu County, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province and Ying County, Shuozhou City since April 2 (inclusive) should report immediately.
