On November 5, 2011, the e-commerce website eBay announced that its e-commerce business will achieve gratifying results by the end of this year, with sales exceeding US$5 billion. It is reported that at the Open Mobile Summit, eBay CEO John Donahoe said that eBay's e-commerce sales will exceed US$5 billion in 2011 and its PayPal sales will exceed US$3.5 billion. Data shows that eBay completes three transactions per second, and sellers publish 700,000 new products via mobile phones every week. The number of app downloads through devices such as Android, iOS, Windows Phone and BlackBerry has reached 56 million. John Donahoe said, "We are facing changes in consumer behavior. We are in a period of change. Mobile shopping brings new consumer experiences, and the flexibility of e-commerce allows consumers to return to physical stores again, driving consumption." eBay recently announced a plan to add image recognition technology to its applications by 2012. eBay hopes it will bring greater profit margins to the company. |
