[Original form] Arrowleaf Rain Flower is an aquatic herb, 50-80cm tall. The whole plant is smooth and hairless. The rhizome is well developed, long and strong, creeping, with remnants of old leaf sheaths and fibrous roots. Leaves are often basal; leaf blades are papery; petioles are 50-70cm long, expanding into split sheaths at the bottom, the sheaths are about 20cm long, with an elongated ligule at the tip; leaf blades are sagittal or triangular ovate, 4-26cm long, 4-10cm wide, with acuminate tips, sagittal or halberd-shaped bases, and entire margins. The raceme grows in the swollen part of the middle of the petiole, with several flowers; the flowers are blue-purple with red spots, the pedicel is 1-3cm long, and the flower diameter is 7-10mm; the perianth has 6 lobes, which are light blue, ovate, 10-12mm long, and have a green midrib. Capsule is oval, about 1 cm long. Flowering and fruiting period is autumn.
