[Original form] Camellia chrysantha is an evergreen shrub, 2-3m tall. Leaves are alternate; petioles are 0.5-1.2cm long, glabrous; leaf blades are leathery, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 10-15cm long, 4-6cm wide, with acute or caudate-acuminate apex, base cuneate or rounded, margins slightly curled back toward the back, with small bony serrations, and a small black glandular dot at the end of the teeth; 6-8 pairs of lateral veins, raised underneath. Flowers are solitary or 2-3 in clusters in leaf axils; bracts are 5-6 with ciliate margins; sepals are 4-5, semicircular or broadly ovate, 0.3-0.6cm long, with short soft hairs on the inside; petals are 8-9, golden yellow, with small ciliate margins; stamens are about 150, arranged in several whorls; pistil is 1.5cm long, ovary is triangular-conical or oblate, with 3 styles, completely separated. The capsule is nearly spherical or triangular-shaped and flattened, with a diameter of 1.5-2.5cm. Seeds nearly spherical or slightly angular. The flowering period is October-November, and the fruiting period is October-December.
