[Original form] Water loosestrife, annual herb, 0.4-2m tall. The base of the stem is procumbent, with roots at the nodes. The upper part is ascending, quadrangular, and densely covered with yellow, flat, long, stiff hairs. Leaves are opposite; petioles are short, densely covered with yellow rough hairs; upper leaves are nearly sessile; leaf blades are oblong or ovate-oblong, 2.5-7cm long, 1.5-2.5cm wide, obtuse or acute at the apex, rounded or shallowly cordate at the base, serrated at the margin, covered with yellow rough hairs on both sides, and with glandular dots below. The cymes are many-flowered, usually forming dense and continuous pseudospikes at the top of stems or branches, sometimes interrupted at the base, 6-18cm long; bracts are ovate-lanceolate, often as long as the corolla, with rough and stiff hairs on the edges; calyx is campanulate, about 1mm long, with only sparse soft hairs on the edges of the calyx teeth, and the rest is glabrous, but with small glandular dots, 5 calyx teeth, short triangular, about 1/4 of the length of the calyx tube; corolla is lavender or white, about 2.5 times the length of the calyx, glabrous, with 3-lobed upper lip and entire lower lip, with soft hairs on the edges of the lobes; 4 stamens, long extended, with bearded extended parts; ovary is 4-lobed, style is shorter than stamens, stigma is 2-lobed; disk is cup-shaped. The nutlets are nearly spherical and brown. The flowering period is from April to November, and the fruiting period is from May to December. [Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in moist places under sparse forests at an altitude of 300-1700m or in moist places near streams.
