[Original form] Cassia tora is a perennial herb, up to 50-90cm tall. The stem is erect, branched at the top, angular, light green, and sparsely covered with soft hairs. Trifoliate leaves; leaflets obovate or oblong-oblanceolate, 2-4cm long, 1-2cm wide, obtuse at apex, cuneate at base, entire, hairy or glabrous above, sparsely pubescent on the back; 2 stipules, leaf-shaped, lanceolate or linear, separate; petiole 2-3cm long. The raceme is terminal, the flowers are dense, alternate, and about 2.5 cm long; the bracts are boat-shaped, about 1 cm long; the calyx is simple, inflated, with 5 calyx teeth, the upper 2 are more or less fused, and densely pubescent; the corolla is butterfly-shaped, yellow, the standard petal is round, the wing petals are oblong, and the keel petal is obovate-oblong, all with long claws; there are 10 males, mostly separate, and the ovary has a short stalk. The pods are linear-lanceolate to linear, flat, erect, leathery, 4-8cm long, 7-9mm wide, dark brown, densely covered with short soft hairs, with a thin mouth transformed from the style. The seeds are slightly kidney-shaped, reddish brown, and densely covered with resinous glandular dots. The flowering period is April, and the fruiting period is July-August.
