[Source] This product is the dried bulb of Allium macrostemon Bge. or Allium chinensis G. Don, which belong to the Liliaceae family. Dig up in summer and autumn, wash, remove the fibrous roots, steam or blanch in boiling water, and dry.

[Properties] Small root garlic: irregular oval in shape, 0.5-1.5cm high, 0.5-1.8cm in diameter. The surface is yellowish white or light yellowish brown, wrinkled, translucent, covered with white membranous scales, and has a protruding bulb disk at the bottom. Hard, horny texture. It smells like garlic and tastes slightly spicy.

[Identification] Take 4g of the powder, add 20ml of n-hexane, treat with ultrasound for 20 minutes, filter, evaporate the filtrate, add 1ml of n-hexane to the residue to dissolve it, and use it as the test solution. The plate was developed, taken out, dried, and fumigated with iodine vapor until the spots were clearly colored. In the chromatogram of the test sample, spots of the same color appear at the corresponding positions in the chromatogram of the control medicinal material.
