Leaves opposite; petiole 1.5-4cm long; leaf blade ovate-triangular or broadly ovate, 1.5-3.5cm long, 1-2.5cm wide, short-acuminate at apex, shallowly cordate or truncate at base, sparsely serrated at margin, sparsely pubescent above, often purple below, inflorescence axis pubescent; bracts small; flowers small; C-type, with a petiole about 2mm long; calyx tube ovate, 2 lobes, purple-red, ovate, 1-1.5mm long; 2 petals, white, obovate, nearly as long as calyx lobes, with apex notched; 2 stamens; ovary inferior, 1-chambered, style about 1mm long, stigma entire or slightly 2-lobed. The fruit is nut-shaped, rod-shaped, about 2mm long and 1mm wide, with dense hooked hairs on the outside; the fruit stalk is slightly longer than the fruit. The flowering period is from July to September, and the fruiting period is from August to September.
