[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pileum variegatedum of the Urticaceae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb or semi-shrub, 15-40m high. The whole plant is hairless. It has creeping rhizomes and fleshy stems. The leaves are succulent and opposite; the petioles are 0.7-1.5cm long; the stipules are herbaceous, light green, oblong, and fall off early; the leaf blades are obovate, 2.5-6cm long, 1.5-3cm wide, with abrupt convexity at the apex, cuneate or obtuse base, and the margins have several irregular shallow teeth or erosions from the bottom to the top, dark green above, with 2 intermittent white spots in the center (sometimes 2 on the edge), light green below, and the stalactites are fusiform and obvious on both sides; there are 3 basal veins. Flowers are dioecious; male inflorescences are capitate, often growing in pairs in leaf axils, with peduncles 1.5-4cm long; outer bracts are oblate, inner ones are oval and slightly smaller. Male flowers are inverted pear-shaped; tepals are 4, fused to the middle, nearly cucullate, densely covered with stalactites on the outside, and sparsely covered with cotton hairs on the lower inside; stamens are 4; the reduced pistil is conical and not obvious. Female flowers are about 1mm long; tepals are 4, nearly equal in length, slightly shorter than ovary. Flowering period is from September to November.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Greenhouses are commonly used for cultivation and ornamental purposes in various parts of my country.

[Pharmacological action] This product can inhibit Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Leptospira, and has inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus and hemolytic Streptococcus.
