[Original form] Big-headed flat-breasted turtle, carapace length 65-156mm, width 55-113mm, shell height 34-57mm. The head is large and the neck is short, unable to retract into the shell. The back of the head is covered with large horny shields. The jaw is thick and significantly hooked like an eagle's beak. The carapace is oblong, with a concave middle front edge, a flat ridge and a longitudinal ridge. The cervical shield is extremely short and wide, and the plastron is slightly rectangular, with a flat front edge and a concave rear edge; it has a lower edge shield.
