[Source] Medicinal material source: The above-ground part of Clematis celeryleaf, a plant of the Ranunculaceae family.

[Original form] Clematis celery, a perennial herbaceous vine, 0.5-4m long. The roots are slender and brown-black. The stem is slender, with longitudinal grooves, slightly pubescent or glabrous. The leaves are two to three times pinnate or pinnately lobed, with petioles up to 7-10cm, rarely up to 15cm, the ultimate segments are linear, 2-3mm wide, and gradually pointed or obtuse at the apex. Cymes are axillary, with 1-3 flowers, drooping bell-shaped, 1-1.5cm in diameter; 4 sepals, light yellow, oblong or narrowly ovate; stamens are numerous, half the length of sepals, filaments are flat; broadly ovate or round, brown-red when mature, persistent style 2-2.5cm long, densely covered with white pubescence. The flowering period is July-August, and the fruiting period is September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on hillsides and ditches at an altitude of 600-3000m.

[Properties] It is thin and winding, with a diameter of 0.5-2.5cm, the surface is grayish yellow green to reddish brown, and the cross section is grayish white. The leaves are two to three times pinnate, with short petioles, small lobes, oblanceolate or lanceolate-stripe, 0.5-2mm wide, and entire. It has a slight fragrance and a unique taste.
