[Source] Medicinal material source: The branches of Ulmus pumila of the Ulmaceae family.

[Original form] Deciduous tree with straight trunk, up to 20m high. The bark is dark gray-brown, rough, and has longitudinal grooves; the twigs are soft, hairy, and light gray-yellow. Leaves are alternate, papery; petioles are 2-10m long and hairy; stipules fall off early; leaf blades are obovate, elliptic-ovate or elliptic-lanceolate, 2-8cm long, 1.2-2.5cm wide, with acute or acuminate apex, rounded or cuneate base, dark green and glabrous above, with short hairs below when young, and hairs only in the vein axils when old, with simple serrations on the margins; lateral veins are obvious, 9-18 pairs. Flowers bloom before leaves, in clusters forming cymes, growing in the leaf axils of last year's branches; perianth is needle-shaped, 4-5-lobed; stamens are the same number as perianth, anthers are purple; ovary is flat, 1-chambered, with 2 styles. The samaras are nearly round or obovate, 1-1.5cm long, 0.8-1.2cm wide, smooth, with a notch at the tip. The seed is located in the center of the samaras, connected to the notch; the fruit stalk is about 2mm long. The flowering period is March-April, and the fruiting period is April-June.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on river banks, ridges and roadsides, also grows on foothills and sandy land.

[Processing] Take the original medicinal materials, remove impurities, soak them slightly, wash them, moisten them thoroughly, cut them into thick slices, and dry them.
