[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pteris nivalis of the Aspleniaceae family.

【Original form】Plant height 50-70cm. The rhizome is short and erect, with the apex and base of the petiole densely covered with dark brown, broad lanceolate scales, the apex long and acuminate, and the margin entire. The leaves grow in clusters and radiate from the top of the rhizome, hollow like a bird's nest. The petiole is extremely short or nearly sessile, straw-colored, raised on the lower side to be semicircular after drying, with a broad groove on the upper side, and narrow wings on both sides of the base; the leaf blade is thick papery, glabrous on both sides, ribbon-lanceolate to ribbon-oblanceolate, 40-70cm long, 5.5-6.5cm widest at the middle, with a sharp tip and a short tail-like shape, gradually narrowing and extending downward from the middle, entire, with cartilaginous edges; the midrib is raised on both sides, with a broad groove on the upper side below the middle, the lateral veins are usually forked, obliquely upward, and the tip of the veinlet is connected to a wavy marginal vein. The sori are linear, 1.5-2.5cm long, borne dorsally on the upper side above the middle of the veinlet, 2/3 of the way from the leaf margin to the outside above the base of the veinlet, close to each other, and sterile below the middle of the leaf blade; the sori cap is linear, membranous, and entire.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on tree trunks or limestone cliffs in mountain forests at an altitude of 300-1100m.
