[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 2 fen; or soak in wine. For external use: decoct in water for washing or mash into juice for application.

[Additional prescription] ① To treat wheezing: Mix a small amount of Datura leaves with tobacco and inhale the smoke. (Modern Practical Chinese Medicine)

[Clinical Application] Treatment of chronic fistula: Datura leaves can absorb pus and stimulate the growth of granulation tissue in fistula holes. Method: Wash the Datura leaves with cold boiled water, use a needle to drill many small holes on the leaves, put the leaves in a sterilized bowl, brew them with boiling rice water and set aside. Disinfect the wound according to surgical routine and apply the treated Datura leaves as described above according to the condition of the fistula. If more pus suction is required, the back side of the leaf (i.e. the side with leaf vein bulges) should be in contact with the wound; if more granulation is required, the front side of the leaf (i.e. the delicate side) should be in contact with the wound, then cover with gauze and change the dressing 1 to 2 times a day. The trial was used on 7 patients with chronic osteomyelitis and fistula. The shortest course of disease was half a month and the longest was 14 years. Most of them had been treated with bone scraping and antibiotics without any effect. As a result of treatment with this method, 4 cases were cured, 3 cases were significantly effective, and the shortest treatment course was 7 days.
