The inflorescence is borne at the end of the branch. Most of the corollas have withered. The calyx is yellow-brown and persistent. The inner calyx usually contains many brown seeds. The best ones are dry, rootless, and brown-purple in color. 【Chemical composition】 Contains cardiac glycosides and volatile oils. [Preparation] Pick out impurities, remove roots, wash off dirt, soak for a while, cut into sections and dry in the sun. 【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, cool. 【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness, promotes blood circulation and removes blood stasis. It is used to treat jaundice, difficulty in urination, edema and abdominal distension, pain caused by falls and blood stasis, bloody diarrhea, hematuria, excessive leucorrhea, irregular menstruation, accumulation of tumors, and abdominal pain caused by blood stasis after childbirth. [Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 3-5 qian (1-2 liang for fresh); or grind into powder. [Additional prescription] ① Treat damp-heat jaundice, difficulty urinating, and yellowing of the whole body: 1 to 2 liang of Yinxingcao. Decoction in water and take twice a day. ((Fujian Folk Herbs) [Remarks] The whole herb with fruits of this product is used as Liujinu in North China, Northeast China, Northwest China, Shandong, northern Anhui, northern Jiangsu and other regions. It is commonly known as "Northern Liujinu" and is the most widely used Liujinu product.
