[Original form] Goldenrod is a perennial herb with a hard root head and thick fibrous roots. The culm is hard, with hairy scales at the base, erect or inclined at the base, 30-60cm high, 1-2mm in diameter at the base, with many nodes, each node is covered with mustaches, and the upper nodes are often multi-branched; the margin of the leaf sheath mouth is ciliated; the ligule is short or almost absent; the leaf blades are linear, 1.5-5.5cm long, 1.5-4mm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, very rough on both sides, flat or involute. The inflorescence is terminal, thin, curved, creamy yellow, 1.3-3cm long and about 2mm wide; the internodes of the spikelet are almost equal to the length of the spikelet stalk, slightly swollen at the tip, with slender cilia on both sides; the sessile spikelet is 2.5-3mm long, with soft hairs on the base; the first glume is flat, slightly shorter than the second glume, truncate at the tip and with cilia, with 3-4 veins, the veins are rough, the second glume is boat-shaped, the same length as the spikelet, with long cilia near the tip edge, with one vein extending into an awn, the awn is 13-20mm long and slightly tortuous. The first flower is male, with an oblong-lanceolate lemma, without awn, slightly shorter than the first glume, and an oblong palea, equal to or slightly shorter than the lemma; 2 stamens, and yellow anthers; the second flower is bisexual, with a 2-cleft lemma tip, with curved awns extending between the teeth, and the palea is the same length as the lemma; 2 stamens, and yellow anthers; the ovary is small, ovate-round, and glabrous; there are 2 styles, and the stigma is brush-shaped; there are smaller spikelets, which are absent in the first flower, and the second flower may be bisexual, with 1 stamen. Flowering and fruiting period is from April to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on hillsides, in rock crevices, or in moist places on river banks.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet; Cool

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat; promotes the flow of dampness; eliminates accumulation. It is mainly used for fever, thirst, icteric hepatitis, splenomegaly, diabetes, indigestion, and infantile malnutrition.
