[Original form] A tree, up to 12m tall. Bark gray, flaking; sparsely pubescent. Leaves are alternate, petiole 3-5.5cm long, leaf blade broadly ovate or ovate, 5.5-18cm long, apex acuminate or acute, base cordate or shallowly cordate, glabrous above, sparsely pubescent below when young, entire or with several small teeth at the top. The cymose panicle is up to 50 cm long and covered with hairs; the flowers are light red and dense; the sepals are light red, petal-like, and about 6 mm long; the petals are shorter than the sepals, one of which is lip-shaped, with a sac, and shorter than the other petals, with a yellow tip; the ovary is spherical and covered with hairs, and usually only one ovule develops in each chamber. The capsule is pear-shaped or slightly spherical, swollen, 1-1.7 cm long, and light green with light red when ripe. The seeds are spherical, 1.5-2mm in diameter, black or dark brown. Flowering period is from March to July.

[Properties] Identification of properties: The leaves are broadly ovate or ovate, with short acuminate or slightly pointed apex, shallowly cordate base, nearly truncated or rounded, yellow-green above, sparsely pubescent below, entire or with a few small teeth on the upper part, and slender petiole.
