[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the plant Sophora japonica of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] Yunnan sowthistle is a perennial herb, 15-40cm tall. With taproot. There are several stems growing from the leaf axils at the base, and each stem branches from the middle and upper parts. The middle and lower parts are covered with dichotomously hooked stiff hairs at the tips, and the upper part is almost hairless or glabrous. Leaves are clustered at the base, oblong or oblanceolate, acute at apex, gradually narrowed at the base into a winged petiole, with wavy teeth on the margin and covered with short stiff hairs on both sides; stem leaves are few, narrowly lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, serrate or entire; upper leaves gradually become smaller, linear, covered with eyelashes and short stiff hairs; sessile. There are 1-2 head inflorescences on the top of each branch; the involucre is tubular-bell-shaped, the outer bracts are short and linear, the inner bracts are linear-lanceolate, and the back is covered with short stiff hairs; the florets are all ligulate, yellow, and have 5 teeth at the tip. Achenes are close to the sickle, reddish brown, about 4mm long, with longitudinal grooves and transverse wrinkles; pappus is feathery and white.

【Functions and indications】Dissipate wind-heat; detoxify snake venom. Mainly used for wind-heat cold and snake bites

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash fresh product for application.
