[Other names] Comb grass, swan eggs, saw grass, comb grass, iron fern

[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of the plant Pteris cretica of the Pteridaceae family.

【Original morphology】Plant height 25-60cm. The rhizome is short and thick, lying obliquely, and densely covered with chestnut brown, lanceolate scales. Leaves are nearly clustered and dimorphic; petioles of nutrient leaves are 3-15cm long and straw-colored; leaf blades are lanceolate, thickly leathery, 20-45cm long, 2.5-6cm wide, with sharp tips, gradually narrowing at the base, smooth on both sides, and pinnately fissured once almost reaching the rachis; lobes gradually narrow to ear-shaped toward the lower part, the middle part is 1.5-2.5cm long, 4-6mm wide, short-pointed, entire, with a single, inconspicuous lateral vein. The sporophylls are usually slightly longer, with short, narrow lobes. The sori are linear, growing within the leaf margin and parallel to the midrib; the sori cap is linear, attached to the outer edge, opening toward the midrib when mature, with edges more or less gnawed.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on arid limestone walls at an altitude of 500-1800m.
