[Original form] Small shrub, about 70cm high. The stem is cylindrical, much branched, covered with fine pubescence and yellow glandular dots. The leaves are opposite, with petioles 4-10cm long, covered with fine pubescence and sparse glandular dots; the leaf blade is papery, ovate-lanceolate to ovate, with short acuminate apex, obtuse to rounded base, sometimes slightly oblique, 3.5cm long, 1.3-2.3cm wide, with both sides of the leaf densely covered with yellow glandular dots; nearly entire or with very fine teeth; 3-5 basal veins. Flowers bisexual, 4-merous; composed of cymes forming small panicles, terminal, densely pubescent and sparsely glandular; bracts inconspicuous; pedicels and calyx both with yellow glandular dots; calyx funnel-shaped, four-sided, with short triangular lobes less than 1 mm long; petals pink to purple-red, with acute, oblique apex; filaments ± pubescent, anthers curved; ovary semi-inferior, with 4 small protuberances at apex. The capsule is oval and enclosed by a persistent calyx. The flowering period is July and the fruiting period is October.
