[Source] It is the roots and leaves of the Asteraceae plant . Harvest in autumn and winter, wash and dry.

[Original form] Perennial herb. There are dozens of roots growing in clusters. There is one large leaf, basal; petiole about 16 cm long; leaf blade ovate-triangular, about 50 cm long or larger, about 33 cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex with a small tip, broadly cuneate or nearly truncate at the base, with irregular serrations on the leaf margin, and both sides are covered with coarse hairs with brown coarse spots on them. The capitula is about 24 mm in diameter and arranged in a racemose manner. The peduncle of the inflorescence is slender, covered with cotton wool, and has 2 to 3 narrow lanceolate bracts; the involucre is bell-shaped, with 2 bracts, the outer ones are narrower, the inner ones are broad and obvious, and the edges are all membranous; there is one row of ligulate flowers, yellow, female, and sparsely attached; the corolla is linear-oblanceolate; the tubular flowers are bisexual and yellow. Achenes are narrowly cylindrical, brown, with yellow-white pappus. Flowering period is autumn.

[Habitat distribution] Grown in areas with thicker soil on hillsides. Distributed in Yunnan and other places.

[Nature and flavor] Spicy, slightly bitter, hot, slightly toxic.
