The efficacy and function of red lady

The efficacy and function of red lady

The world is full of wonders, and Chinese medicinal materials are also varied and varied. Here I would like to introduce to you a Chinese medicinal material, red ladybird.

[Other names] Red lady, red girl, red girl, Mogu insect, gray flower moth, flower chicken, pheasant waist, red cover insect

[Source] The dried body of the black-winged red maiden Huechys sanguinea De Geer or the brown-winged red maiden H. philaemata Fabricius, both of the Cicadidae family. It is captured in July and August, usually in the early morning before the dew has dried. The wings of the red ladybird are wet and it cannot fly, so it is caught by hand. Because live red beetles can emit a smell similar to croton powder, it is best to wear gloves and masks when catching them to avoid irritation to the skin and mucous membranes, and also to prevent irritation to the eyes. Or you can use a fly swatter to knock the flies down and then use bamboo chopsticks to put them into a cloth bag. Put the cloth bag into boiling water to kill it, then take it out and dry it in the sun.

[Preparation] Remove the head, legs and wings of the insect body, fry it with rice until it turns dark yellow, and then sieve out the rice.
