[Original form] Vitex negundo, an upright shrub, plant height 1-3m. The branchlets are quadrangular, and are usually covered with grayish white short hairs along with the leaves and inflorescences. Petiole 2-5.5cm long; palmately compound leaves, 5 leaflets, rarely 3, leaflets oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, base cuneate, entire or with a few coarse serrations, apex acuminate, surface green, back densely covered with grayish white hairs, middle leaflet 4-13cm long, 1-4cm wide, leaflets on both sides gradually smaller, if there are 5 leaflets, the middle 3 leaflets have petioles, the outermost 2 are sessile or nearly sessile, with 9-20 pairs of lateral veins. The cymes are arranged in terminal panicles, 10-27cm long; the calyx is bell-shaped, 5-toothed at the apex, and covered with grayish-white hairs on the outside; the corolla is lavender, with fine soft hairs on the outside, 5-lobed at the apex, and two-lipped; the stamens extend outside the corolla tube; the ovary is nearly glabrous. The drupe is brown, nearly spherical, about 2 mm in diameter, equal to or slightly shorter than the persistent calyx. The flowering period is from April to June, and the fruiting period is from July to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on hillsides, roadsides or in bushes.

[Preparation] In summer and autumn, take fresh thick stems of Vitex negundo, cut them into sections, each section is 0.3-0.6cm long, roast one end over fire, and collect the juice from the other end, which is Vitex negundo.
