[Source] Medicinal material source: the flower of lemongrass, a plant of the Poaceae family.

[Original form] Lemongrass, perennial herb. The culm is thick and up to 2m high. Contains lemon scent. The leaves are up to 1m long and 15mm wide, with both sides being grayish white and rough. The spathe is lanceolate, narrow, 1.5-2cm long, red or light yellowish brown, 3 to 5 times longer than the peduncle; the pseudopanicle is linear to oblong, sparse, three-branched, intermittent at the base, and its branches are thin and downward-inclined or slightly curved to arcuate. First branches with 5-7 nodes, second or third branches with 2-3 nodes and simple. The racemes are twin, 1.5-2cm long, with 4 nodes; the internodes of the spike axis are 2-3mm long, with slightly long soft hairs, but the hairs do not cover the spikelets, the sessile spikelets are bisexual, linear or lanceolate-linear, without awns, and acute; the first lemma has 2 fine teeth at the tip, with narrow wings on the ridge, slightly concave on the back and concave in the lower part; there are no veins between the ridges, the tip of the second lemma is shallowly cracked, with short tips, without awns, and the stalked spikelets are dark purple.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Cultivated in South my country, Southwest China, Fujian and Taiwan.
