The twigs are covered with spider-like soft hairs, which later become glabrous; the tendrils are opposite to the leaves and branched in a dichotomous manner. Simple leaves are alternate; petiole is 3-5cm long, covered with spider-like hairs, and then becomes glabrous; leaf blade is herbaceous, ovate or broadly ovate, 5-10cm long, 4-9cm wide, with short acuminate tip, shallow cordate or truncated cordate base, with numerous small teeth on the margin, almost glabrous above, densely or sparsely covered with light brown short soft hairs below; lateral veins are 5-7 pairs, and the third-order veinlets are not obvious. The flowers are heterogamous and dioecious, with panicles 5.5-7cm long, opposite the leaves, sparsely covered with spider-like hairs; bisexual flowers have bracts at the base; the calyx is disc-shaped, about 0.8mm in diameter, and glabrous; there are 5 petals, which are glued together at the top to form a cap and fall off; there are 5 stamens, opposite the petals; the ovary has a short stigma and is subsumed by the disk; the male inflorescence is long and narrow, and the male flowers have degenerate ovaries buried in the disk. The berries are spherical, 7-12mm in diameter, black with white powder when ripe. The flowering period is June, and the fruiting period is July-August.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing beside hillside ditches or in bushes at an altitude of 470-2600m.
