[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of Rubus pyrifolia of the Rosaceae family.

[Original form] Rubus pyrifolia is a climbing shrub. Branches pubescent and with short, flattened spines. Simple leaf, nearly leathery; petiole up to 1 cm long, densely pubescent, with sparse prickles; stipules separate, caducous, striated, pubescent; leaf blade ovate, 6-11 cm long, 3.5-5.5 cm wide, apex acute to short acuminate, base rounded, margin with irregular coarse serrations, hairy on veins on both sides, 5-8 pairs of lateral veins, raised on the underside. The panicle is terminal or grown in the axils of the upper leaves, densely covered with grayish-yellow short soft hairs; the pedicels are 4-10mm long, and the bracts are split into 3-4 linear lobes, with soft hairs; the calyx tube is shallowly cup-shaped, densely covered with short soft hairs on both the inside and outside, with glandular dots. The flowers are white, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, with petals 3-5 mm long, shorter than sepals, numerous stamens, and linear filaments; there are 5-10 pistils, usually glabrous. The aggregate fruit is oval, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, reddish, and has a few small drupes. The flowering period is from April to July, and the fruiting period is from August to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in relatively shady places in low-altitude mountains.

[Cultivation] Biological characteristics: It prefers warm climate and humid environment, is cold-resistant but not drought-resistant, and avoids waterlogging. It can be planted in most soils.
