[Original form] Terrestrial perennial fern, plant height 30-80cm. The rhizome is short and horizontal, densely covered with brown lanceolate scales. Leaves are herbaceous, densely growing, and dimorphic; the petiole of the vegetative leaves is chestnut to chestnut brown, 8-12cm long, 3-4-ribbed, smooth, with brown linear scales only at the base, and short axes on the rachis and the narrow edges of the raised sides of the rachis; the leaf blade is oblong to oblong-lanceolate, 15-40cm long, 6-15cm wide, caudate at the apex, twice singularly deeply pinnately fissured or twice half-sidedly deeply pinnately fissured; 4-6 pairs of lateral pinnae, petioles are extremely short, pinnae are triangular-lanceolate or triangular, oblique at the base, caudate at the apex, and the pinnae fissures almost reach the rachis, the first pair is the largest, 5-8cm long, 2-3cm wide; lobes are 4-9, oblong or narrowly oblong, and only the top of the vegetative leaves has thorn-pointed serrations; lateral veins are forked, and the veinlets extend into the serrations. The sporophylls are similar to the nutrient leaves but longer, with narrowly ovate leaves; there are 5-7 pairs of lateral pinnae, with the lobes gradually pointed at the tip. The sori are linear, borne on the veins at the margins of the pinnae, with only the apex being sterile; the sori cap is linear, membranous, gray-green, and entire.
