[Original form] Terrestrial fern, plant height 20-35cm. The rhizome is short and thin, nearly erect, covered with lanceolate scales, light brown, and with a thick chestnut-black midrib in the center. Leaves are papery, tufted, and monotypic; petioles, rachises, and pinnae are all bright purple-black, petioles are 6-24cm long, sparsely covered with short brown hairs, nearly smooth at the back, and scaly at the base; leaf blades are nearly pentagonal, nearly equal in length and width, 4-8cm, gradually pointed, base broadly cordate or halberd-shaped, almost three-lobed, the central lobe is broadly rhombic, deeply pinnate-lobed, 3.5-5cm long, 2-4cm wide, base broadly cuneate, extending downward from the rachis, the base pair of pinnae is the largest, pinnate-lobed or shallowly lobed, lateral pinnae are triangular, 3-4.5cm long, 2.5-3.5cm wide, base extending downward and connected to the central broad wing extending downward, the lower base pinnae are particularly long, deeply pinnate-lobed, the second pinnae have coarse teeth, the rest are entire, the upper pinnae are short and entire; leaf veins are pinnate-shaped, and the veinlets are dichotomously branched. The sori are distributed along the edges of the lobes on both sides, with the apex and notch sterile; the sori cap is entire.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown beside forest streams or on the edge of fields at an altitude of 230-800m.

[Chemical composition] The leaves contain 22 (29) -hopene [hop-22 (29) -ene], hydroxyhopane, 6, 22-hopadiol (zeorin), friedelin, fern-9 (11) -ene [fern-9 (11) -ene], and squalene.

【Functions and indications】 Clears heat and promotes diuresis; stops bleeding. Mainly caused by stranguria; bleeding caused by trauma

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and grind into powder for application.
