【Original form】 Small tree. The twigs are slightly quadrangular and densely covered with yellowish brown hairs. Simple leaves are opposite and petiolate; leaf blades are ovate-lanceolate, 15-18 cm long, 6-13 cm wide, gradually pointed at apex, rounded to cordate at base, entire or wavy, sparsely covered with fine hairs on the upper side and densely covered with yellow hairs on the lower side, denser along the veins, with 3 veins at base, 5-9 on each side, curving upward near the leaf margin. Inflorescence is broadly paniculate, terminal; pedicel is short; calyx is cup-shaped, with 5 teeth at the apex, which are narrowly lanceolate; corolla is tubular, with 5 lobes at the apex, the lobes are long ovate, and covered with short white soft hairs; stamens are 5, filaments are extended, anthers are dorsifixed, and the chambers are longitudinally split in 2 chambers; pistil is 1, ovary is superior, style is extended, and stigma is 2-lobed. The berries are obovate, dark blue, and enclosed in a persistent calyx.
