【English Name】 Marginate Sorus Shield fern

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the Dryopteris whipleaf fern of the Dryopteris family.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 20-30cm. The rhizome is erect, and the base of the petiole is densely covered with lanceolate scales. Leaves are clustered; petioles are 3-10cm long, sparsely covered with narrow lanceolate or subulate scales upward to the rachis; leaves are lanceolate, 10-20cm long, gradually pointed at the apex, often extended into a whip shape (rooting on the ground and regenerating new plants), the base is not narrow, occasionally with short bristles on the upper side, densely scaled below, once pinnate, the pinnae are sickle-oblong, the base is asymmetrical, the upper side is convex and pointed triangle, the lower side is cut off, and the edges have inward-curved sharp serrations; leaf veins are pinnate, simple or forked. The sori are dorsally borne at the tip of the lateral veins and arranged in a row near the leaf margin on the upper side of the midrib; the sori cover is large, round shield-shaped, and closely attached to each other.
