[Source] It is the whole herb of Polygonum multiflorum, a plant of the Polygonaceae family . Harvest from June to October.

[Original form] Herb, 100-150 cm high. The stem is erect, much branched, and densely covered with short soft hairs. The leaves are nearly sessile or with short petioles; the leaf blades are lanceolate, acuminate at the apex, cuneate or nearly halberd-shaped cordate at the base, sparsely pubescent above, and densely pubescent below. The inflorescence is a large spreading panicle with white or pink flowers. Achenes triangular, shorter than perianth.

[Habitat distribution] It grows in relatively shady and moist places beside roads and ditches. Distributed in Tibet and other places.

[Chemical composition] The whole plant contains polygonum glycosides, calycanthin, isoquercetin, quercetin, quercetin, and 3'-methylrhamnetin.

【Nature and flavor】 Cool in nature, spicy in taste.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness, kill parasites and stop dysentery, clear away heat and detoxify. Treat bacillary dysentery, enteritis, indigestion in children, bruises, rheumatic swelling and pain, and skin eczema.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 3 qian.
